Bloody Civilian

Emoseh grew up in a very conservative setting; her childhood was marked by stringent restrictions from her family that constrained her movements. Despite these restrictions, she had an early interest in music which propelled her to become what she is today.

How it Started

At a tender age, Emoseh developed a passion for music, engaging in school talent shows where she would perform as a vocalist and guitarist. Within no time after her performances during the talent shows, she had built a reputation as a local talented musician.

She started making these beats and selling them to the rappers at school, before learning to make them herself. Though many still viewed her as an amateur, her father, who was a band member before, saw the potential and pushed her into pursuing music.

Emoseh goes by the stage name Bloody Civilian, a name reminiscent of the violence in Northern Nigeria, with the States in the region constantly at war, during her growing-up years.

Career

Bloody Civilian took up music full time when she started making the transition from record producer to recording artist. Back in 2022, she broke into the music scene with her debut single, “How To Kill A Man.”

The single and its self-directed music video led off her debut EP, Anger Management. Later that year, she gained prominence in “Wake Up,” a collaboration with Nigerian artist Rema for Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

In 2023, Bloody Civilian continued building her presence with a spate of new releases. She dropped “I Don’t Like You” on the 30th of March, followed by its official music video on July 13, directed by Cruel Santino.

Another prominent release was the third single from her debut EP, “Escapism,” which was released on 8 June. The unique approach and sound used brought about the release of the remixed version of Anger Management, Anger Management: At LEasT wE tRIED, on 10 November 2023.

It was the project with many collaborations featuring other artists that really cemented her stand in the music industry.
